Commercial Operation of The Two New Production Lines:
SCC is pleased to announce the commencement of commercial operation of the two new production lines constructed by the Chinese company, Sinoma International Engineering Co. Ltd. With a production capacity of 10,000 tons per day of clinker each, i.e. 6.6 million tons of clinker (i.e. 7 million tons of cement) per year. The Board of Directors has initially approved one of the lines for meeting local demand, and demand in the nearby GCC countries, while the second was to replace the older and less efficient long dry process kilns, gradually, and in line with requirements of prevailing market realities. Based on the above, and in view of the continuing ban on cement and clinker exports from Saudi Arabia – now in effect for nearly ten months – resulting in excessive stock of clinker, where it has accelerated the decision to start the stoppage of the older production lines at Hofuf and Ain Dar. To achieve the long term interests of the company and its shareholders the Board of Directors has decided the following:

1- Continue production from the more efficient and economical and larger capacity production lines.

2- Gradual stoppage of old kilns, with all steps necessary to do that.

3- Continuously monitor market conditions as well as the export ban lifting on cement and clinker export, for reconsideration of old kiln stoppages, if feasible.

SCC received the following awards:
- The King Abdulaziz Ideal Factory Award Twice.
- The Saudization Award Twice.
- The Exporting Award.
